Build Community | End Homelessness | One Neighbor at a Time

*Kauhale is a new approach to offer permanent housing for neighbors who have experienced persistent (aka chronic) homelessness. As a community-centered model, kauhale provide the opportunity to thrive for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Kauhale are an answer to the unmet need and desire of neighbors who are homeless who seek a community to call home.

**HomeAid Hawaii is developing a kauhale located in Kalaeloa, Oahu. There will be 36 tiny homes with a community center featuring bathrooms, showers, laundry facilities, a commercial kitchen, medical clinic, and community lounge. The kauhale will have outdoor shared community spaces and cabanas. US Vets has been selected by the state to operate and manage the kauhale and H4 will provide on-site medical services.

HomeAid Hawaii has assembled a 52-member builder team for the Kalaeloa kauhale who have been donating their time, expertise, and materials. Learn more about the team and project HERE.

We also rely on private donors, like Linda and David pictured here, to help this project succeed! Please consider supporting us in this home stretch of the project.

*This project was originally designated under the Governor's emergency proclamation on homelessness. It is has recently also been designated under the COVID-19 pandemic emergency proclamation as a response to offer immediate housing for those experiencing homelessness.

**HomeAid Hawaii is a 501(c)3 non-profit donating professional building industry services and materials to help end homelessness in Hawaii. We were created by Oahu developers and the building industry in 2015 and privately fund all of our programs.

We build and renovate shelters, properties, and housing options owned, operated, or managed by qualifying local non-profits who provide housing or services for neighbors experiencing homelessness. We work with our local building and development industry professionals to provide discounted or pro-bono labor, supplies, and materials for approved projects in our Housing Program. HomeAid Hawaii also provides community support through our Outreach Program which includes hygiene kits, comfort kits, work ready kits, community engagement and development, events, programs, and partnerships. In our first four years, we have provided over $500,000 in professional labor, materials, and services to address homelessness in our local communities through financial and in-kind donations via our Housing and Outreach Programs.
